A major gay stalwart and a popular meeting point at the start of a night, The Lisbon is quite a shock when decending it’s steps to the basement it occupies. On entering the bar, it’s vast, traditional style will hit you. An enormous intricate ceiling hovers above a wide bar and an area of tables, banquets and snugs. To the rear is a disco area, which appears to attract a dancing crowd from very early on.

The Lisbon also serves up a menu of food during the day with standard pub fayre on offer. The crowd is hugely diverse – from older gentlemen to young ladies about town, the party invariably starts here.

The pool table is covered during the busy periods, but is well used during the daytime.
