![]() Homotopia The end of October 2006 sees the launch of Homotopia where Liverpool plays host to an already hugely successful queer arts festival. In association with the Outsiders Film Festival, the event is spread over several weeks and will showcase a variety of cultural events including film, theatre, comedy, heritage, cabaret and art.
After receiving a three year funding package from the Liverpool Culture Company, who are behind the plans for Liverpool's Capital of Culture status in 2008, this year's plans are the biggest to date. The popular Lavender Lounge is back this year for two dates, to be joined by a very special Sahir House Anniversay Charity Gala, and provides a chance to catch up with big name cabaret acts which include Laquisha Jonz (by the creator of Kandi Kane) and the Edinburgh Fringe sell-out duo, Topping & Butch. Meanwhile, catch up on the career of that Bucks Fizz cutie with A Night of a Thousand Jay Astons. Live music is in full force with WIMFEST with performances from lesbian icon, Al Start, London based indie band, Spy51 and Swiss lesbian singer/songwriter, Chick Atkinson. Clubbing-wise, Evol @ Homotopia brings eclectic electropunk and diskotrash with live bands and PAs to the Korova Club and the North's mega-club brand, Federation, bring the festival to a close with one of their legendary dance parties. There really is something to whet everyone's cultural appetites this year! latest photo review
