Pride Reunion Postponed!
Massive Minehead weekend party put on ice

Pride Reunion Postponed!

Friday, 11 November 2005

We've just received the following press release from Pride Reunion:

PRIDE REUNION POSTPONED

Plans for a Pride Reunion weekend received a huge amount of positive and enthusiastic response. Unfortunately, the organisers have postponed the event due to take place in Somerset this month.

Despite healthy ticket sales throughout the summer, bookings slowed considerably in the lead up to the event, proving insufficient to cover the cost of the huge production budget. The event's proximity to Christmas and distant location has been cited as determining reasons for the fallout in anticipated guest bookings. The organisers feel that this huge event will benefit from a revised date to ensure that Pride Reunion remains the exciting and unique event that was originally conceived.

The event will be rescheduled in 2006.

Event promoter David Hill has offered the following statement:

"We would like to thank everyone who has booked tickets and supported our event. We would also like to offer reassurance of a full refund to those who have booked, together with the offer of a large discount on tickets to the rescheduled party"

Too close to Christmas?? I finished all my Christmas shopping ages ago. Ermm on a serious note yes definitely too close to Christmas, and I am not sure about you but I’d rather spent my hard earned cash on going somewhere nice. I had a look at expedia today, a trip to Barcelona from 18.11.05-21.11.05 (including flights and hotel) is available for £172. I checked Berlin, too, which seems to be the ever so popular gay destination at the moment and you can get a good hotel (city centre based) and flights for the above dates from £225 if you book today. (I took the late easy jet flight there last Friday and I ain’t joking but I thought Pride Reunion had re-scheduled to Berlin a week early).
Also it seems that not enough people booked to pay for the large amounts of people who would have gone for free.

This was not going to work out. First and more importantly there is only one Pride festival a year and that is in August. Other major towns have their own festival, but they dont organise anything in winter as they have other commitments. The brighton Pride festival is the highlight of the year and this is what we all look forward to. This is when people over spend and overindulge in all ways possible. People cant afford to do it twice and people dont want 'reunions' There is only one pride event!

Minehead is great, but not suitable. It is too far for people to risk life and limb in bad weather to get to. Some of my dj friends from London expressed concerns about getting there. Also, it is too near to Christmas. The other thing is that people dont want to be too isolated. This would have been the case in minehead.

Lets just keep to Brighton Pride. Its easier, and fun to look forward to each year!

It's a shame! I could have done with a little pick-me-up around now (not liking all the family time cumin up) and on the money front - I HAVE NONE! Well, I have some but not a weekend's worth of going out to spend. The shopping is killing me - I hate it.
