Lottery award and new patron add to Doncaster's Pride

South Yorkshire’s favourite country town is looking forward to its second annual Doncaster Pride this August. And the preparations are hotting up, as is it’s the patron support.

Local diva Jane McDonald has lent her support to the event by becoming Doncaster Pride’s first ever patron. “Having a patron means a great deal to us” said Doncaster Pride Chair Trevor Jones, “it’s a celebrity endorsement that gives us a real impetus to make sure we deliver a great event for Doncaster.”

And to help pay for the party? Doncaster Pride are pleased to announce they have received funding from both National Lottery Awards for All and South Yorkshire Police Authority ABC Awards. Each award will ensure this second Doncaster Pride will be better than ever with funding coordinator Andy Carter saying of the awards “To put on a great show takes money and we’re so pleased to have been successful in obtaining a substantial amount of funding. The money is going to allow us to do much more, provide better acts and entertainment for example and we feel we’re now able to have those few extra’s that will make the event memorable and special.”
