This was the second helping of Octopus, Liverpool's new cabaret night with a hint of pink which we thoroughly recommend, and the Masquerade is a great pre-show drinkies spot.

Tonight, Kitty Litter was headlining the night with Allan W Cross in a very supportive role (he's very cute in a Will Mellor kinda way). The lovely Dame Doreen (nee Kumkwik) presided over the event.

This event sold out and had a great atmosphere, although Karen Noble's non-appearance was a bit of a disappointment - naughty Karen. It was therefore left to Doreen, Kitty and Allan to let the show go on - which was very ably done. You can't help wishing they hadn't had to though - unfair pressure and all.

It's the first time I've seen Doreen do a turn, and with strong voice and acid tongue, she kept the audience in check. Allan had a great voice and it would have been interesting to hear a few songs outside the karaoke-classic genre, although the ones he did were great crowd-pleasers.

Kitty, as always, stormed the show with gags of the wedding variety (you know... something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue), which had the audience in fits - very interesting to see the old girl back in the 'Pool from her now-native Brighton.

With cabaret tables and at-table bar service, this is a nice little occasion and one that is destined for great things!
