review

Tonight, of course, should have been Phil Starr night. But as he’s shining in an altogether different firmament we had him in our thoughts rather than on the stage. Also, alas, Hilda Braid of Nana Moon fame has ‘had a fall’ so we were doubly cheated.

Instead, ladies and Gentlemen, Homotopia managed to do the impossible and pull something special out of the bag in almost no time at all! Tonight's Call my Pouf (an obvious pastiche on the perennial favourite Call my Bluff) was something of a triumph.

Our esteemed teams were made up of local hero, Terry Titter, visitations from the south; Lee Tracey, Kitty Litter and Brian Ralph, and in the Frank Muir Corner, Mr Chris Barnard, who gave us an evening of Polari inspired humour and some genuinely funny moments.

Terry needs to get over his Phil Mitchell obsession - he may open for Quicksave but he's out of your league, sunshine. Lee broke, then stole, our hearts with his gorgeous three legged lapdog (looks a little bit like Nana, actually) and Kitty was on fine form as our hostess.

We had songs and sparkling wit. They had gin and something that looked like brown ale. The audience were eager to get involved and although the evening may have been a bit rough around the edges (a bit like Lee’s wig) if you can pull this out of the bag at such short notice you deserve a slap on the back!
