review

Phoebe Killdeer former singer of Nouvelle Vague's decadent line-up brought her new solo offerings to Brighton in the form of support act 'Phoebe Killdeer & The Short Straws'. Equally defining and jaw dropping performances as before, just now that little bit extra special as the focus is now purely on Phoebe's intense stage act. With her solo album due out here in May, the future for her and The Short Straws is looking bright.

The bossanova beats of Nouvelle Vague were welcomed with arms wide open as always from the Brightoners lucky enough to have gotten their mits on a ticket for this evenings intimate showcase.

Beautiful reworkings of classic songs known to most, and then seasoned the French way by producers Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux - Mark Ronson can keep dreaming. This penomenon belongs to Nouvelle Vague.

Seductive as always with singers Melanie and Nadeah sexing up every note of every song throughout the evening with an extensive set including favourites Too Drunk to Fuck listen with itunes, God Save the Queen, and Love Will Tear Us Apart listen with itunes.

Phoebe Killdeer's shoes have now been refilled with an equally exciting blonde bombshell with quite possibly the longest legs in the world easily scaling the barrier of Concorde 2 to step down into the crowd and grind her way through to the very back of the already overly excited crowd and back again before smoothly sliding her way back onto stage to continue her seduction of the crowd alongside Melanie where she does it best.

Departing the stage at the usual point after jaw dropping a-plenty, Nouvelle Vague never cease to amaze.

about Concorde 2

Okay, so you may have to walk a bit to reach it... but that just makes it that little bit more exclusive doesn't it! Located along Madeira Drive, the Concorde 2 is a sizeable venue with a huge variety of clubnights and bands on each month. Some top names, some great festivals, World Music... you name it. If you can't find something to pique your interest then you might as well pack your bags and head for Eastbourne...

The next Concorde 2 date for your diary:

Saturday, 2nd August
Popstarz Pride Carnival (Pride in Brighton & Hove)
